Ok ya'll, you know I'm not that up on my html jargon and technology hoopla. I guess I needed to prove that point today! A few amazing people got a hold of me and let me know that my facebook button on the right wasn't working and I seriously can't thank you enough! I appreciate it so much. I think it's fixed now, looking a bit goofy as it may. I also added my Instagram account as well so I'd love to connect with you in those ways too!
Again thank you so much to those who let me know it wasn't working. If you were one of them I'd love to give you a public shout out and follow you back, so if you'd leave your name and blog in the comments on this post I'd be happy to do that.

The Time I Quit Google
I'm an obsessive google-er.
Combine that with my worry-er nature and we've got a disaster. I know.
I've diagnosed myself with more than one disease a time or two thanks to WebMD.
In other, but related news, the Mr and I are in a bit of a housing dilemma. We love where we are but feel like it isn't right for us right now. To make a long story short way too much of our monthly budget is being zapped by housing. We don't need all this space so we feel like we aren't being good stewards of God's money at this point. But we are struggling greatly to find someplace else to move to. It has been a frustrating place to be nonetheless and a few days ago I found myself crying out to God, begging Him to show us what to do. And then all that changed on the way home from church Sunday.
We've been talking and stressing and constantly looking for awhile now, because of the weekend that it was (you can read more about that here in case you missed it) we made each other a promise-no house talk this weekend. We both needed a break. So imagine our surprise when something was very much handed to us today that was completely out of the blue and completely perfect for our needs. I cried all the way home with tears of gratitude. But just as soon as we thought we may have figured it out, we lost it. Hours after those tears of gratitude I was sobbing tears of frustration. Really? Again?
It left me feeling stunned and lost, wondering...now what God?
So then I hopped on my laptop and found my way to my home away from home...Google. I started quickly typing in various area realtors/MLS listings/financial "stuff". And you know where that left me? Right back where I started. Google. With a blank search bar blinking back at me as if to say...you're out of ideas now aren't you?
And I was.
I am.
And I think that's exactly where God has purposely put me. No options as far as my eye can see. No more "search ideas" to run on Google. Just a whole lot of questions, and if I'm honest, an embarrassing lack of faith. I know better ya'll. I know better. He has been faithful constantly. He has given me nothing but reason after reason to trust Him with everything-including this.
My circumstances have not changed tonight, the frustration and feeling of defeat is still fresh on me and my tears have hardly dried. But I will offer up my faith, though it be the size of a mustard seed, and put away Google and all my other efforts to "figure out" everything.

A Request
Since I started this little blog here I have always had a button on the right side that says "Prayer Requests" that when you click on it opens an email to send directly to me for any prayer needs anyone would have-whether I know you or not, whether you want to share details or not-makes no difference. Today, I'm pressing that button myself and humbly asking you to pray for me. This weekend will mark the 3 year anniversary of my aunt's death and to be honest I have found myself struggling with it a lot these past few days as my mind has gone back to the pain and suffering that was our nightmare. My only consolation is my living hope (1 Peter 1:3)...she is home with the same God that will continue to carry me, she is whole, she is well, and someday I will be too. Until then I'm grateful for every good work He has prepared for me in advance to do and for the grace and the strength to do them (Ephesians 2:10).
I have shared before this part of my story, but for any new friends (I'm so glad you're here, by the way) let me give you a bit of background. My aunt was every bit my second mother. She was a gifted pianist and music teacher. She never married or had a family of her own, so she moved in with my family before I was even born. So I was blessed immensely with the gift of having 2 mothers really, neither lacking, both incredible women who made me who I am today. When I started school I thought it was strange none of the other kids had a dad, a mom, and an aunt. As an adult I know now that arrangement doesn't work often and it's probably rare that it worked so well for my family...but it did. 4 years ago she got diagnosed with colon cancer and to say my world was rocked is an understatement. I would be the world's biggest hypocrite to act like God was not faithful, because He was beyond measure, but it was undoubtedly one of the darkest valleys of my life to this point.
Yesterday my mind went back to the day the doctor called with the results of blood work and said she was dangerously low on blood, as the tumor was taking it all up, and that she needed to get to the hospital immediately. She literally had hours left at that point and they wondered how she was still functioning as she was. My sister immediately called me that morning and let me know what was going on, I ran out of my house and jumped in my car and flew to my parents house to try to get there before they left. My parents happened to be remodeling their house at the time and their driveway was full of construction crews and trucks. I cluelessly parked down the street and just started running (in my husband's sweats) down the road to their house. I ran through the front door, up the stairs and straight to her bedroom where she was still calmly packing an overnight bag. I sat on the edge of her bed and willed myself to hold it together until she left. I remember thinking...don't you dare cry...don't you dare cry...if you do you'll never stop. A single tear escaped and she rushed to me and sat down on the edge of the bed next to me and held me so tightly I thought I would stop breathing, and the floodgates broke. I ugly-cry-sobbed hysterically into her arms. I still look back and hate that I did that to her, but am also strangely grateful for that moment where it was just the 2 of us, sitting, hugging, and crying. Nobody knew what would happen next but in my heart it was one of those moments I knew I would never forget. Want to hear something embarrassing? Yesterday that memory came over me so strongly that I drove back to my parents house, climbed the stairs to her bedroom, and sat in that exact same spot. And sobbed my heart out, knowing this time she wouldn't be there to hold me. It was one of the most painful, loneliest moments of my life. My sweet mother found me and came and held me and cried with me instead. I felt 5 years old again. It was just what my grieving, aching heart needed.
I apologize for the "down" nature of this post. I think about you reading this and wonder if you're struggling too, with something much bigger than this. Please know, I am tender towards you. I would love to pray for you also. It's tempting to not write this today, to act like everything is fine in my world and try to make you smile. But today, I hurt. I grieve. I ache for someone very special. And I have always made you a promise-you all are my friends, seriously if you lived down the road from me we would be doing this over a cup of coffee and a pile of tear soaked tissues...and I'm always real with my friends. My mother raised me teaching me that if you can't be genuine around someone then don't be around them. So here I am guys. Real and genuine.
This morning in my prayer journal I wrote these words...
There are times in life that are so painful we worship the Lord from the rock bottom, tears streaming, teeth gritted-telling our soul to praise Him, reminding your heart-He is yet worthy. I have to believe He will honor these praises-yes, even these.
With that, I'm signing off for the weekend. I thank you so humbly for your prayers. He is still so good, sweet friends, and in the midst of suffering I see His Hand at every turn.

Top 10 Spring Ideas
Maybe it's the way March came in with a bang here-a big wintry one that we are slowly digging out from. Maybe it's the fact that I am in a serious decorating dry spell around the house after the past few holidays. I went all out for Christmas, did a little for Valentines Day (very little) and now it all feels empty and celebration-less. So I've decided snow or no snow outside...inside our home Spring has sprung. Here are my top 10 favorite Spring ideas I'm planning on attempting this year...
1.)
First things first, I'm switching out my throw pillows in our living room. Target has some really great bright ones right now like this one, however I'm on a budget and can easily cover my current throw pillows in some cheap, brightly covered fabric. I love small steps likes this that really do brighten up a room and can be super inexpensive so I can put that money towards another project.
2.)
Next area I will be focusing on is our mantel. Our fireplace/mantel area is actually in our dining room, so it's an area we are in a lot-plus when we entertain it's front and center. I'm loving this Spring mantel from the Burlap and Lace blog, plus she included a super helpful tutorial on how to make practically everything in the photo! I plan on incorporating the pitcher with branches, the window pane with maybe a moss covered initial letter hanging, and some other fun Spring trinkets.
3.)
Let's talk about a happy accident-at Christmas time I desperately wanted a new canister set for the kitchen. Well apparently I talked about it a little too much because both my mother and Mr. got me a set. Oops. It worked out to be perfect though as once of them arrived on our doorstep with the lid broken and World Market customer service insisted we keep the bottom if it was still in tact. From that moment in the middle of the cold Winter I knew-that canister with no lid was going to make the perfect terrarium for our dining room table come Springtime. I don't know much about terrariums so the Pretty Handy Girl's list has been a great help and I cannot wait to put it together!!
4.)
Speaking of indoor plants, last year I filled a window sill with small succulents and ivy's in all kinds of different containers. I started thrift and antique shopping looking for anything cheap and unique and soon had a lovely collection of coffee mugs, tea cups, pencil cups, old coffee cans. All kinds of eclectic beauty. Filled the bottom with small stones/rocks, then soil, then planted away! This was one of my favorite quick decorating projects and I definitely plan on doing it again this year. (I also plan on watering them more so they live. But that's another story for another day)
5.)
I love this look. How simple but beautiful is this?! I think it would work perfectly if you were needing a tall centerpiece or any area of your home that could take something tall like this. Definitely going to go for this one.
6.)
Source unknown
Ombre eggs?!?! Seriously ya'll I can hardly stand it. I love these in any clear vase or glass hurricane. And again, so easy.
7.)
I love this Baby's Breath Wreath, so fresh and Spring-y. However I am highly allergic to Baby's Breath so I will probably look around to see if I can find a faux Baby's Breath, which I think would also allow it to last for multiple years instead of when the flowers die. I like the initial letter but will probably look for a larger one. Two Delighted blog has a wonderful tutorial for this look!!
8.)
Source unknown
I think the painted mason jar look is great, inexpensive and completely versatile. I'm imagining a cluster of 4-5 on my coffee table with some beautiful full flowers.
9.)
I have a large wall mirror that is very near the front door, so I always like to add a little something to it. Sometimes a word art garland, other times just a pretty, simple garland along the top. This website has some great Spring garlands I'm excited to try out for that space.
10.)
I love decorating with cake stands in the kitchen. This look inspired me to take those cake stands and layer them with grapevine wreaths that I already have and nestle some eggs around it, maybe even a few faux flowers.

Tasty Tuesday- Cheesy Potatoes
There are some dishes that you could eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and never get tired of.
This is one of those dishes for me.
My mom has made cheesy potatoes as long as I can remember, and for me they are pure comfort food. They are delicious and ridiculously easy. I still remember the first time I invited my in-laws over for dinner soon after the Mr. and I were married. I had planned the menu down perfectly except for the side dish. I couldn't think of one to save my life. I was about to give up and tearfully open a can of green beans in surrender when my sweet mother reminded me...what about cheesy potatoes?
Dinner saved.
My father-in-law all but licked his plate after his third helping and my mother-in-law begged for the recipe.
Try this dish and be amazed friends.
Here's what you'll need...
-1 onion, chopped
-8 ozs. of Cheez Whiz
-12 ozs. Milnot
-2 lbs. frozen cubed hash brown potatoes, slightly thawed (I usually set them on the counter a couple hours before making this)
-1 stick of butter
Begin my melting the margarine, then add the Cheez Whiz and stir so it starts to melt a bit (it won't be perfectly smooth, that's fine). Then add everything else except the potatoes and stir.
Add the potatoes and stir.
Pour in a well-greased 9x13 dish, cover with foil and bake in a 400 degree oven for 1 hour.

He Came For Me
Yesterday morning I woke up with a heavy sense of shame. Saturday night I had what I typically call "a faith breakdown". I got so overwhelmed by upcoming stuff and took my focus off Him and onto my circumstances, my problems, my things to "figure out". And I lost it. In an ugly horrible way. I fell asleep a little before 4 am after my meltdown, in a puddle of tears and prayers and asking God to forgive me for losing sight of Him and acting like I didn't even believe Him, let alone trust Him. I woke up 2 hours later to a severe winter storm (have you ever lived through a sleet-storm? That's right...thunder and lightening...and sleet. Lots and lots of sleet. And snow. And freezing rain.) All church services were cancelled including Sunday School (which was ironically one of the things I had melted down about the previous night because I had run out of time to prepare a craft for our 2 year old class).
Instead of hopping up and running around like a mad woman to get ready like I had anticipated, I laid there and did a lot of thinking. Thinking over the past week and all the ways I had seen God move and work in my life and those around me. Some were small ways that reminded me He cared about it all, and some were huge ways. I had seen His Hand all over my week.
Like...
...last Tuesday during a women's Bible study I attend when a lady walked in with a Wal-Mart sack and a store bought cake inside. She sat it down on the back table, let out a big sigh and said, I made muffins but dropped them in the garage on the way here but last night I had picked up this lemon cake which I don't even know why I bought because I hate lemon, but since I dropped the darn muffins I thought I'd bring that instead. We all laughed with her and took our seats. A few moments later another one of our ladies walked in and jokingly said who brought me a birthday cake?! Nobody knew it was her birthday. The lady who brought it repeated her story and said I wish I would've bought something you liked...that one is just lemon. The birthday girl grew teary eyed instantly and said lemon has been my favorite ever since I was a little girl, and we are so tight on money this is the only birthday cake I'll have this year. We all ate lemon cake together in tears. Reminded...He cares. Even about lemon birthday cakes and dropped muffins and church planter's wives who can't afford a thing and are trusting God for their next dime and don't have a birthday cake.
...the Mr. and I got a very large unexpected bill last week. I fought worrying about it for days, I had no idea where that money was going to come from. Saturday afternoon my dad, who was preparing our taxes for us, brought over some papers for us to sign and told us we would be getting back a refund this year. $20 over the amount of the bill. I signed the papers with tears streaming down my face, reminded that sometimes the best place to be is where the only way you'll get through something is if God Himself steps in. And then He does.
...headed out of town to a friend's baby shower I was struggling a great deal. Too much going on in my head. Too tired. Not a bone in me wanted to keep going but I wanted to be there for my friend. Suddenly I hear from my mom who just felt the need to remind me that when something difficult and potentially worrisome comes up we should be grateful for another opportunity to trust God. And just like that I kept my car headed down the highway, grateful to trust Him. It turned out to be an afternoon with sweet friends that my heart desperately needed.
...the winter storm. Part of the reason for my Saturday night meltdown was because I am so worn down. I'm weary. When I finally drifted off to sleep around 4 it was hardly doing anything outside. But 2 hours later when I woke up it was a winter storm that forced everything to just...stop. Pause. Rest. So that's what we did. We charged all of our electronics to prepare for power outages, we sat under blankets and "attended" church services online around the country that were not in the winter storm like us. We left potato soup and chili going in crockpots all day and ate and played Uno and watched movies and napped. The storm raged on but inside it was just a breath of air. It felt like it was just for me. For now the storm has changed over to a heavy but beautiful snow, which is expected to continue for hours. I am quite content here however, stuck inside.
There were some other instances as well that seem a little too personal to share. So that's why it hurt so much when I realized how much my attitude and the way I acted Saturday night must have hurt God. As if to say...you still don't trust Me? Really?
I'm reminded that as "messed up" as I feel sometimes, He came for the sick. The lost. The hopeless. The one's in need of healing.
He came for me.
