Tasty Tuesday Lettuce Wraps & Recipe Link Up

Hi friends!  Welcome to another Tasty Tuesday!!

One of the many things I love about my man is his gift of encouragement.  I can put practically anything in front of him and even if it's not his absolute favorite meal, he is nothing but complimentary.  However, lettuce wraps are my thing and not his.  Not even a little.  I for one love the texture, the freshness, the bit of crunch as you take a bite.

This dish is a favorite in our house though because it's so adaptable.  The filling for this wrap is so delicious you can easily eat it by itself, or over a bed of rice like the Mr. does.  Or in a crisp lettuce leaf as a wrap like I do.  No matter how you serve it, just make sure you do!!

Here's what you'll need:
1 lb. ground turkey
1 yellow onion, chopped
Minced garlic
2-4 carrots, shredded or minced
Frozen peas
Salt & pepper to taste
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup cold water
1 cup cold water
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons corn starch
After you start the ground turkey browning, start chopping the veggies.  You can buy the bagged shredded carrots, or toss some into the food processor.  Add the onion, garlic, carrots, peas, and salt and pepper to taste to the browned ground turkey.
While all of that is cooking it's time to make homemade teriyaki sauce.  This could not be simpler.  Dump the soy sauce, 1/4 cup water, ginger powder, garlic powder, and brown sugar in a sauce pan on medium heat until the sugar dissolves.  Combine the 1 cup water with the corn starch and add that to the sauce pan.  Leave this on the heat until it's to the consistency you desire, then just add it to the ground turkey/veggie mixture.  Once this comes to a simmer, you're ready to eat!

  1. I agree, lettuce wraps are my thing not my husband's either. He says they just don't fill him up. Great recipe.

  2. Lovely recipe. I'm afraid I would have to go with rice as an accompaniment also, not a lover of lettuce. Thanks for hosting. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has been up to this week.
